He represented Africa and defend the color, This great African Legend and Ghanaian midfielder Sulley Muntari is a player whose name divides opinion whenever it is mentioned. Calm on the pitch, a bit hot-tempered and a no-nonsense player. Sulley is one of the most successful Ghanaian footballers ever. His dedication to football made him one of the most feared player when it comes to long range shot.
He has played in the best leagues in Europe, played for top clubs like Inter Milan, AC Milan and has seen success on the biggest stage. Muntari during his top playing days was involved in a host of controversial angry reactions and was sometimes tagged the “bad boy” of Ghana football.
During his time with Inter Milan, he helped the team win the Champions League in 2009-10 and the Serie A title in 2008-09 and 2009-10. He was also part of the Portsmouth team that won the FA Cup in 2007-08. A full international for Ghana since 2002, he has earned over 80 caps for the national team and has been selected for two African Cup of Nations tournaments and three FIFA World Cups.
When I called him Legend of African football some people might think that I took it too far but here is the reason, Muntari made the headlines after walking off the pitch in a Serie A match involving his Pescara side and Cagliari.
The midfielder claimed to have heard racist chants from a section of the home fans and complained to the referee with the hope that an action will be taken. Muntari then confronted the away fans, continuously hitting his hand against his skin to show them how he cherished his black body.
However, the referee rather yellow-carded the Ghanaian in controversial circumstances. The decision led to Muntari walking out of the pitch in protestation because we have no place for racism. After the game many people praised him for standing up against discrimination and racism.
He has a beautiful wife whom they shared a lovely son together, his wife name is Menaye Donkor, born 20 March 1981 is a Canadian-born Ghanaian businesswoman, entrepreneur, philanthropist, and former beauty queen who was named Miss Universe Ghana 2004, and represented Ghana in Miss Universe 2004. Menaye is a super gorgeous woman who has bless Sulley Muntari with a handsome child.
