Big opponents against Novak Djokovic at U.S. Open Finals

In an overall performance of the world number one since the turn of the year, Djokovic has pulled up a sterling performance this season, even though he was underwhelming at Tokyo 2020. But there are big opponents against the 34 year old on his way to set a record that will equal Rod Laver's record of bagging all Grand Slam titles in a calendar year. There are lots of upcoming stars, coming to fight for the U.S tennis crown.

Novak Djokovic with the Wimbledon title

The 34-year-old Serb was urged to cope with the pressure to achieve the feat, as some of the best youngsters around, like Germany' Alexander Zverev, can be in the best position to snatch the thunder from the 2021 Wimbledon champion, halt his glorious march to history, But Djokovic must play his cards well.

Alexander Zverev with his first Olympics medal

Zverev ended Djokovic’s hopes of winning the gold medal at the Olympic Games and consolidate his sterling performance with an impressive stride at the Cincinnati Masters, which means the German is ready for any opponent including Djokovic to win his maiden Grand Slam in the coming days.

Another threat against Djokovic is world number eight, Matteo Berrettini. The Italian has claimed two ATP titles in the last three months. He claimed the Serbian Open beating Aslan Karatsev on a two straight-set, with a Queen's Club championship beating Britain's Cameron Norrie on a three-set encounter. The 25-year-old Roman faced Djokovic at the 2021 edition of the Wimbledon final, but the Serbian beat him on straight sets after he won the first set. Berrettini can come as a threat to Djokovic at the forthcoming U.S Open.

Stefanos Tsitsipas

Though, Stefanos Tsitsipas has not won any other ATP World Tour title, since winning the Rolex Monte Carlo Masters, as he could not advance past the final four of some of the events including the Grand Slams. But Tsitsipas needs a Grand Slam title at the U.S Open next week.

In all, Djokovic should be ready for any opponents, as tennis loving fans will be putting their money on him as he makes history.
