Since the retirement of super eagles mercurial midfielder Austine Jay Jay Okocha Nigerian has struggled to find a suitable replacement. Mikel was the man given the Iconic Number 10 jersey, even at that Jay Jay left a huge vacuum.
Mikel shows leadership taking all the pressure off the younger players, his retirement ushered the way in for Okocha’s Nephew Alex Iwobi. Iwobi assumed the number ten role and despite having a good outing at the Nations cup. It was quite clear the super eagles need a playmaker in the middle of the park.
However, there is a glimmer of hope in Rangers of Scotland wonder boy, Joe Aribo. One of the newest members of the super eagles, Joe Aribor has endeared himself to the fans of the super eagles. In his 3 caps for the super eagles the midfielder has shown that he has the capacity and the ability to be a good playmaker. Aribo is strong, technically gifted, has in him killer passes, good finishing and a whole lot of energy.
Both Alex Iwobi and Joe Aribo are good midfielders in their own rights. However, depending on the intensity of the game coach Genort Rohr may choose a player with high intensity (Aribo) or low intensity (Iwobi).
