Do Real Madrid Really Need Mbappe?

Kylian Mbappe is one of the best players on the planet without a doubt, no wonder Real madrid want to get his signature at all cost. The final day of the summer transfer window in 2021 saw Real madrid offer PSG the sum of 200 million euros for Mbappe which was turned down by the Parisian club.

To many, it seemed like a ridiculous move by Real Madrid considering the fact that Mbappe's contract with PSG ends in about 12 months time. Which makes him a free agent come next year summer transfer.

Initially, the fans and the club hierarchy may have been disappointed by PSG's refusal to sell Mbappe but at this point, a certain Vinicius Junior is making fans to forget the pain of loosing out on Mbappe to this summer.

When Vinicius was bought by Real Madrid, surely he was one of the most promising talents in the world but he failed to live up to expectation in his first two seasons at Madrid. He showed speed and skills but was heavily criticized due to his poor finishing in front of goal. His end product was terrible and couldn't get the goals which fans and the club hierarchy wanted him score.

This season, Vinicius has exploded. He has improved his stamina and his work rate in every game is always one of the highest on the pitch. Vinicius is not the player we knew. He is a totally different person. He is developing at a very alarming rate, his finishing is now of best in Laliga which has seen him rack up 8 goals and 2 assits in Laliga till date. Much of the credit should go to Ancelotti who has been able to bring out the best from the brazilian forward.

Vinicius has also formed a wonderful partnership with Kareem Benzema upfront at Madrid. Both players team up so well this season, probably the best attacking pair in Laliga this season. They are both the leading goal scorers in Laliga with Benzema at the top with 10 goals and Vinicius follows with 8 goals.

Kylian Mbappe is expected to join Real Madrid next year. It would be awesome to watch an attack consisting of Mbappe Vinicius and Benzema but Mbappe's arrival could be more of a danger than a blessing to Real Madrid.

Mbappe is a versatile player and can play on either side of the attack even as a centre forward, but his best position is on the left side of the attack which is where Vinicius plays. We have seen Mbappe become one of the best players in the world, tearing down opposition defenses and scoring amazing number of goals while playing on the left wing. Occasionally, he has played on the right wing and he didn't perform badly in that position, but even if Real Madrid where to field Mbappe on the right wing, it could also mean bad news for Rodrygo Goes who is another young brazilian player in Madrid having a fantastic season also and lets not forget Marcos Asensio also plays on the right wing for Real Madrid.

Players like Vinicius and Rodrygo need regular playing time to be at Mbappe's level. There is no denying that they have the talent to do so. Mbappe's arrival at Madrid may affect the development of either or both of these players. It should be noted that Mbappe was once like Vinicius and Rodrygo, a raw talent. It was regular playing time at Monaco and PSG that saw him get to the level he is at today.

Carlo Ancelotti will have a daunting task of knowing how to play Benzema, Mbappe, Rodrygo and Vinicius when the time comes. But if there is anyone who can get the job done, its Ancelotti
