Jadon Sancho might have just copied what most Italian Serie-A players do when their desired squad number is not available. The new Manchester United signing chose the number 25 and I think I know the reason why.
In the Italian Serie-A, when players arrive at a new club and their desired squad number is not available, such please get creative by choosing numbers that will equal to their desired squad number when added up.
You don’t understand? Let me explain.
For example, Mario Balotelli once revealed that the reason why he always wears the number 45 is because when he was at Inter Milan, the number 9 shirt was not available. So he took number 45, because four plus five equals to nine. Many other players have chosen their squad numbers using the same method.
Why did Sancho Choose number 25?
Jadon Sancho’s preferred number is the number 7. Sancho wore the number at Borussia Dortmund, but as it is unavailable at Manchester United, he picked the number 25 because, 2+5 equals 7.
Sancho is not the first player to do this and won’t be the last. He might not wear the number 25 for too long as he would prefer to switch to number 7 as soon as the number becomes available.
Sancho will be hoping that Cavani leaves Manchester United when his contract ends next summer, so that he can get his preferred number 7.
