UEFA CHAMPIONS LEAGUE: Final Results, Updated Standings, Top Scorers, Assists

Matchday 3 (Day 1) of the UEFA Champions League started in a cool way as Manchester City ignited their UCL campaign with a 5-1 win over Club Brugge, thanks to a superb strike from Cole Palmer and two goals from Riyad Mahrez.

Full-backs Joao Cancelo and Kyle Walker both scored in a resounding win in Belgium that strengthened City's position in Group A after a three-week setback to Paris St Germain.

Hans Vanaken scored a late consolation for the hosts, although City should have won more easily, with substitute Raheem Sterling missing a couple of good chances.

Sporting Lisbon got off the mark in Group C as they eased to a 1-4 away win over Besiktas.

Real Madrid got back to winning ways against Shakhtar Donetsk 5-0 after being shocked by Tiraspol in the last match in the UCL

Goals from Mohamed Salah (Brace) and Naby Keita ensured that Liverpool beat 10-men Atletico Madrid at the Wanda Metropolitano Stadium in Spain.


Paris Saint-Germain maintained their impressive start to this season's Champions League with a second successive group stage win, A Brace from Lionel Messi and a goal from Kylian Mbappe ensured the French giants beat RB Leipzig 3-2 at the Parc Des Princes.
