UEFA Champions League

“I hope this will continue to inspire young girls in Africa", Oshoala on her recent achievement

Asisat Oshoala is buzzing after becoming the first African lady to win the UEFA Women's Champions League.

Oshoala was in action as her Barcelona pummeled Chelsea 4-0 in the final in Gothenburg on Sunday night to lift the trophy for the first time in their history.

Oshoala came on from the bench in the final 20 minutes of the encounter and she was able to help the Catalan giants maintain their advantage.

Speaking after the game, Oshoala said she hope her success story will inspire other young ladies across Africa to pursue career in the round leather game.

“I hope this will continue to inspire other young girls in Africa and motivate everyone around the world that you can achieve whatever you put your mind to and work hard for it.” she told BBC Sports.

Although Oshoala has struggled with injuries recently, she managed to score 22 goals for Barcelona in all competitions this season.

She also helped Barcelona Femino to win 2020-2021 Spanish Iberdrola without tasting single defeat.
