Bayern Munich are very good in scouting unpopular but talented players and turning them into world beaters. The Bavarians lost a gem in Thiago Alcantara who moved to EPL champion, Liverpool this summer.
Despite several efforts by Bayern Munich hierarchy to convince the Spaniard to stay and put pen to paper for an extension to his contract. Thiago Alcantara refused their offer and made up his mind that he wants a change from Germany where he spent seven trophy laden years.
Liverpool took advantage of his lack of commitment and his contract that will expire in a year time and signed him at a cut price fee. However, Bayern Munich identified a prospect plying his trade in Spanish La Liga as an ideal replacement for their midfield maestro, Thiago.
The Bavarians showed interest (though not strong enough) in Federico Valverde of Real Madrid to come and take Thiago's place but Los Blancos authority frowned at it. The young player is highly valued at the Spanish capital and he's very much in Florentino Perez and Zidane's plan going forward.
Bayern Munich on the hand did not want to use aggressive tactics to sign the talented central midfielder because of the cordial relationship between both clubs. They may be repaying Real Madrid for how they didn't go too far for their talisman, Lewandowski when they wanted to sign him few years ago.
The Bavarians did not have anything to worry as Joshua Kimmich has stepped into Thiago's shoe. The German outfit have also signed another promising central midfielder, Marc Roca from Espanyol and they have also acquired Tiago Dantas from Benfica.
