UEL: Possible Reasons for Casemiro’s Discipline issues in England.

It is fascinating how a player who never got a direct red card in about 336 matches for Real Madrid, has already gotten 2 red cards, bagged a game suspension, and a four-match ban in only his first season at Manchester United

Casemiro tears up after getting a second red card during a match against Southampton at Old Trafford.

Casemiro who is widely regarded as one of the smartest tacklers in the game has been finding it a bit difficult in keeping it clean since his summer arrival in England.

The United midfield stalwart received the first straight red card of his career after a moment of madness during the clash against Crystal Palace. Now his second red card at Old Trafford in a match against Southampton.

United no.27,Antony consoles Casemiro as he teared up at the field on the Sunday match.

A challenge from Jeffrey Schlupp on Brazilian winger Antony resulted in a brawl between players of both sides. The 30years old was quite rightfully given his marching order after he was picked out by VAR for violently grabbing Palace’s midfielder Will Hughes by his neck.

And a recent one following his first booking for a challenge on Saints midfielder Carlos Alcaraz, making it 2 red cards for him this season.

Casemiro’s expected four-match ban will be a big blow to Coach ten Hag’s side, with the Brazilian being a major mainstay in the heart of United’s midfield and their push for cup glory and top-four finish.

The question is what could be wrong with Casemiro? A player who hasn’t been shown a straight red card in almost 400 matches is now getting suspensions and red cards in the midseason.

Fatigue - Since his summer arrival, the Ex-Real Madrid man has played in about 32 matches for United, after making 48 appearances last season at Madrid. He was also a constant feature for Brazil at the Qatar 2022 World Cup.

His work ethic at United is second to none, providing defensive cover in Midfield and swiftly joining the attack which has seen him contribute 4 goals and 5 assist for his new side

Aggressiveness – Casemiro most times can be aggressive in his tackles but most often escapes the referee’s wrath. He needs to be wary of this because most English officials don’t hesitate in dishing out their cards.

He likes protecting his teammates – The Brazilian isn’t the type that shy off during scuffles, he’s always among the first to challenge the opposing player whenever there’s a heated situation.

Could it be that the Referees’ in Spain are lenient unlike in England- Referees most times tend to wave off foul incidence.
