Meet The Four Nigerian Midfielder Making Wave In The Premier League & and Are Out To Emulate Mikel

Former Super Eagles player Captain John Mikel Obi is one of the African midfield players to play in the English Premier League

This season, four promising Nigerian central midfielders are playing in the Premier League, and they will be aiming to make their mark in the division. 

The two of the four midfielders have hit the ground running, while the other two are still finding their feet in the league this season. 

Meet the four Nigerian attackers who are emulating John Mikel Obi in the Premier League :

Wilfred Ndidi :

The Leicester City man is one of the best defensive midfielders in the Premier League at the moment.

The 24-year-old has been on since joining the Foxes in a £17m deal from Genk four years ago. 

Ndidi has been the defensive engine for the Brenda Rodgers' team, having scored 7 goals and assisted 9 in 149 appearances.

He has completed 7,645 passes, 1,261 recoveries and 582 successful tackles. 

His performance has also seen him become a fan favorite, while his coach has been impressed with his positional flexibility, which has helped him improve his all-round display.

Frank Onyeka :

Frank Onyeka is new in the Premier League, but he's already making waves with his Brentford FC. 

He made his debut against Arsenal, and he was impressive all through the game.

Just like Ndidi, Onyeka is an important figure in Brentford midfield and one of their most trusted player. 

Onyeka has featured in two games and had 50% tackle success, 10 ball recoveries, 16 fuel won and 6 successful tackles. 

Eberechi Eze :

The midfielder is one of the breakout stars from last season. He scored three goals for Crystal Palace last season.

He made 34 appearances for the Eagles last season. Furthermore, he scored, 6 goals, assisted four and won two man-of-the match awards. 

He completed 1,088 passes, 27 tackles, 11 shots blocked, 178 ball recoveries, 175 duel won and 24 interceptions. 

Michael Olise :

Michael Olise joined Crystal Palace in a £16m deal from Reading last summer. 

The midfielder is yet to make his Premier League debut, but he was impressive in the Championship last season.

The exciting midfielder is definitely a player the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) needs to keep an eye on this season, as he's still eligible to play for Nigeria.
