The first black woman to officiate an NFL game

History was made on 12th of September 2021,as Maia Chaka for the first time became the only black woman to officiate a National football league game and only the third on - field female official in NFL , joining the likes of Sarah Thomas and Shannon Eastin.

A native of Rochester ,New York . She was born on 18 April 1982 to her black parents . Currently she is 38 years of age .Maia Chaka comes from a family that values education .She attended Norfolk state University for her education .She earned her bachelor in education in the year 2006.she then went on to be come a health and physical education teacher at Virginia Beach city public school.

Maia Chaka entered the National football league after an outstanding collegiate officiating career .She also has a wonderful record in collegiate officiating career including stints in the pac 12 career and conference USA.

She is only the second female National football league official after Sarah Thomas who was named to her position back in the year 2015 and last month. Maia Chaka who has been training with the league since 2014 and before that referred college football games said she never thought the day would come " that she would reach the historic milestone .
