Wojciech Szczesny Makes History As The First Goalkeeper To Score An Own Goal In Euros Championship.

Despite having a very terrible first outing in their opening game against Slovakia, in the Euro Championship, after losing 1-2, Poland's Wojciech Szczesny made history as the first goalkeeper to score an own-goal in European Championship history. The Juventus number one, equally didn't have a great season in his Italian club, after the fail to retain their title for the first time in 9 years.

Poland are the second team ever to score an own goal and have a player sent off in the same European Championship game after Czechoslovakia against the Netherlands in 1976.

In 2012 Euro tournament, the Juventus number one keeper was sent off (red card), in 2016 he was injured and now in 2021, he scores an own goal; Terrible luck!

Also, 31 year old Polish defensive midfielder Grzegorz Krychowiak is now the third player to be sent off for Poland at a major tournament ( both Euro Championship and World Cup) after Radislaw Sobolewski against Germany at the 2006 World Cup, his teammate and goalkeeper Szczesny is the second.
