Messi Bursts Into Tears After Presenting Copa America Trophy To Argentina's Fans

Argentina finally had the chance to lift the Copa America trophy in front of 17,000 Argentine supporters at the Estadio Monumental for their 2022 World Cup qualifier against Bolivia, and Lionel Messi couldn't fight back his tears.

The Paris Saint-Germain attacker led Argentina to Copa America victory earlier this summer, defeating Brazil at the Estadio Maracana to win his first championship with the Albiceleste.

After scoring a hat-trick in Argentina's 3-0 win over Bolivia, Messi commented, "This is something I've been looking for for a long time."

"I had a dream about it, and thank God it came true." Because of how and where it occurred, it is a one-of-a-kind event.

"There is no greater way to be a champion than to be here celebrating it with my father and brothers, who are in the grandstand, after waiting so long." I'm overjoyed.

"This is exactly what I had wished for, and it was granted to me." For my family and all Argentines that are watching.

"To tell you the truth, I'm ecstatic." My mother and brothers are sitting in the audience. They went through a lot as well."

After passing Brazil great Pele for the most goals scored by a player representing a South American national team (79), Messi set a new record for the most goals scored by a player representing a South American national team (77).

"I always say [that] individual honors are secondary because we are here for something else," Messi explained.
