Leicester City’s Community Shield triumph over Manchester City, according to Kelechi Iheanacho, was a dress rehearsal for their Premier League clash with Wolves next Saturday at the King Power Stadium.
Last season’s FA Cup winners beat the Premier League Champions in the season’s opener at Wembley Stadium, with Iheanacho scoring the only goal off the bench.
After Nathan Ake fouled him in the box, the 24-year-old scored from the penalty spot in the 89th minute.
Following the game, Ihenacho took to his social media pages to thank God for helping Leicester win their first trophy of the season.
“All glory to God, Iheanacho said in a post on his Twitter and Instagram pages.
Iheanacho was also congratulated by some of his international teammates and Nigeria’s celebrities following the victory.
The former Manchester City man went on a brilliant goalscoring run in the second half of last season, and he has picked up from where he left.
