
English Premier League side Watford joined the world to celebrate Nigeria on her Independence Day.
Watford sent a happy independence message to Nigerians via their social media platforms, this morning.
“Happy Independence Day to all of our Nigerian Hornets! 🐝🇳🇬” the Hornets wrote on Twitter and Facebook.
Watford is one of the European clubs that have special connections with Nigeria. They currently have four Nigerian players on their payroll.
The players include : Midfielder Oghenekaro Etebo, defender William Troost-Ekong, striker Emmanuel Dennis and Tom Dele-Bashiru who out on loan at Reading.
The likes of Odion Ighalo, Danny Shittu and Isaac Success have also played for the Hornets in the past.
Ighalo scored over 40 goals for the club, before leaving for Chinese Super League side Shanghai Shenhua, while Troost-Ekong is their current captain despite joining twelve months ago.
Dennis has netted two goals for them in the Premier League this season and the fans voted as their best player for the month of August.
