American Business Magazine, Forbes has released a list of the world's highest-paid footballers. According to the list, Cristiano Ronaldo is the highest-paid football player in the world. The Portuguese superstar earns about 70 million dollars yearly from the salary he is paid by Manchester United. However, a huge chunk of his income comes from his endorsements. The Manchester United striker earns 55 million dollars from his endorsements yearly. This takes his total income to $125m, which is higher than that of Lionel Messi, who is in the second position, even though he took a pay cut to join Manchester United.
Lionel Messi is the second-highest-paid footballer in the world. The Argentine superstar recently signed for Paris Saint-Germain and he is paid $75m annually by the French club. He earns an additional $35m from endorsements and this takes his annual take-home to $110m. He is followed by fellow Paris Saint-Germain player, Neymar. The Brazilian is one of the most popular players in the world and this is reflected in the amount he earns from endorsements which is $20m. He is also paid $75m by Paris Saint-Germain. This takes his annual pay to $95m.
The French star, Kylian Mbappe is fourth with annual pay of $43m. He earns $28m from his Paris Saint-Germain contract and $15m from endorsements annually. Next is Liverpool star, Mohamed Salah. The Egyptian earns $25m annually at Liverpool. He also pockets $16m from his endorsement deals.
Robert Lewandowski comes sixth with an annual income of $35m. He is followed by Barcelona legend, Andres Iniesta. The Spaniard earns $31m annually from his contract with Vissel Kobe. He also earns $4m from endorsements. Next on the list is Manchester United midfielder, Paul Pogba. The French star earns $27m annual salary and he gets $7m from endorsements.
Gareth Bale and Eden Hazard round up the top 10. They earn $32m and $29m respectively.
