It is no longer news that Manchester City has been crowned Champions of the English premier league following Arsenal's loss to Nottingham Forest. The Gunnars loss to Nottingham Forest came as a big shock to a lot of fans because Mikel Arteta had promised fans that he would give his best in their last two matches. Arteta also believed that Arsenal still had a chance to win the league. Manchester City needed only one win in their last three games to win the league, however, Arsenal made their job a lot easier.
Pep Guardiola is now just two games away from winning the treble. A victory over Inter Milan in the Champions league, and a victory over Manchester United in the FA Cup will secure the treble. Pep Guardiola has now become the second premier league coach to win the league title three consecutive times. This record was formerly held by the legendary coach, Sir Alex Ferguson.
One reason why Arsenal failed to win this title was Gabriel Jesus Return to the team from injury. Ever since Gabriel Jesus picked up an Injury, Arsenal switched several centre forwards in order to find the best replacement in the team. From Nketiah to Nelson and then to Trossard. Trossard eventually became Arsenal's first choice forward due to his ability to score goals and create chances, however, despite his amazing performance, he was eventually replaced by Gabriel Jesus in the starting lineup.
Soon ater Trossard left the team, their overall performance dropped. Saka and Martinelli no longer played the way they did at the beginning of the season, and this is due to constant change in communication between themselves and the centre forward.
Mikel Arteta decision to change his starting lineup at the end of the season eventually lead to the team's downfall. What is your opinion on this? Drop comments below.
