As things stand, Ryan Bertrand and Kyle Walker-Peters are the bankers who prefer to start back, with Jake Vokins and Jan Valery as backups. Williams could hold Vokins on Southampton's left-back side, but could be ruled out as Bertrand's deputy. This is where the news gets tough in Southampton.
Manchester United are adamant that the loan deal comes with an attachment that Williams will make to Southampton regularly this season. The Saints, however, are unable to confirm this, which could hold a deal, although the south coast club will struggle to complete the action on Monday.
