Lionel Messi Breaks Record with A Seventh Pichichi Award

Barcelona bounced back to winning ways after a traumatizing defeat at the camp nou to osasuna which made them gave the title to Realmadrid on a platter of Gold.

Deportivo Alaves was no match for a new resurgent Barcelona as they were thrashed 5-0 on home soil.

Lionel messi as usual was the architect of the show as he scored 2 goals and assisted one to go 4 goals clear of second placed Karim Benzema of Real Madrid who is in action against leganes.

Messi won his sixth award which equals the legendary striker Telmo Zarra and his third consecutive 'pichichi' sees him repeat the feat achieved by Mexican striker Hugo Sánchez with Real Madrid between 1986 and 1988.

This Season messi still maintained his top form as he contributed 24 goals and 21 assist for Barcelona in 38 matches. With this messi now sets a new record by becoming the first player to Win pichichi award on seven occasions. He has now surpassed Telmo Zarra who had six during his playing days.

Karim Benzema needs to score at least four goals to win his first pichichi awards which is mathematically impossible because of The fight that leganes will pose. Messi also scooped the man of the match award as Barcelona gain confidence in preparation of their second leg champions league match against Napoli.
