Barcelona's season-long problems continued with a 0-0 draw against Cadiz, and the club will look to improve things when they return home to face struggling Levante. Barcelona is still unbeaten, but they have dropped six points in their first five games and are currently in seventh place in the table with nine points.
Levante is going even worse; they have gone winless this season and have four points, putting them in 16th position. There is still talk of Barcelona competing for the title, but they are presently seven points behind Real Madrid, despite having a game in hand.
Barcelona's 0-0 draw with Cadiz was their first clean sheet in six games this season. They haven't won in three games, and they've only won two of their six games this season. The Spanish heavyweights have been on the slide in recent years, winning just four of their last 11 league games. Only three clean sheets have been kept in their last 14 league games.
Although Barcelona's last encounter with Levante ended in a 3-3 draw, the Catalan club has won three of their last five league meetings against Levante.
Levante has yet to win this season; they fell 2-0 to Celta Vigo in their most recent encounter, their second loss of the season, and have failed to score in two of their first six games. One positive about Levante is that, despite their difficulties, they have managed to maintain low scores. Only two of their six early season games have seen them concede two or more goals. As a result, under 2.5 goals have been scored in five of their six encounters thus far.
Levante had zero victories and no clean sheets in their previous 14 league games, losing seven and failing to score in five. They have six losses in the league when playing away from home. Levante pulled back from a 2-0 deficit to force a 3-3 draw in their last encounter with Barcelona, and they will be trying to do it again here, with Barcelona battling with form, suspensions, and injuries.
Levante has yet to win this season and will be hoping to take advantage of Barcelona's woes. Barcelona will be looking for the same thing, but one interesting statistic to note is that neither team has been scoring much recently. Given their recent low-scoring matches, I expect this game to generate under 2.5 goals. The match will go down on Sunday at 3:15 PM Nigerian time.
