Sport has reported that Valencia is interested in Barcelona attacker Martin Braithwaite this summer. Valencia are interested in signing the Catalans' Danish forward this offseason, according to reports.
Last season, Braithwaite struggled to get any regular playing time for Barcelona due to his inexperience in the Spanish league. Catalan side Barcelona made just four appearances in the previous season with the 31-year-old scoring twice and providing one assist.
A major knee injury has kept the experienced shooter out of action for the past 11 months. In the summer of 2024, he will be out of contract at the Nou Camp. But even if Barca keeps him, it would be a mistake since they just do not have the resources to give him consistent playing time next season.
When given the opportunity, Braithwaite has shown that he can lead the line and create space for himself to get a couple shots off. It is possible that he can be a decent goal scorer when playing frequently and confidently.
Even in the final third of the field, the Dane can help his teammates out with some big chances. His link-up play at the top needs to be improved, although he can make some good runs with the ball in the opponent's half.
In other words, if Braithwaite is able to find a way out of the Nou Camp this summer, he could still have an impact at the top level. However, he will not see any action for the Catalan giants in the foreseeable future. In order to get the most out of his remaining playing career, Braithwaite, who is currently 31 years old, needs to ensure that he has regular access to the first team.
Barca coach Xavi should let him leave and use the money raised from his possible sale to bolster other parts of the team's matchday roster.
