According to PUNCH, the players accused Caretaker Chairman of the NBBF, Musa Ahmadu-Kida for neglecting them during the Tokyo 2020 Olympics and the 2021 Afrobasket which they won. The ladies accused the Ministry of Youths and Sports Development and the NBBF of withholding their bonuses and allowances, totalling $197,118, which included the $100,000 donated to them before thee Olympics.

Reacting to this, Deji Adeyanju took to his Facebook page to call for the arrest of the official who diverted the $100,000 donated by minister of sports to the women basketball team.

He wrote:

"The official that diverted the $100,000 donated by minister of sports to the women basketball team should be arrested by EFCC."

It is very disheartening to see people who should be celebrated and motivated for their contribution to nation building, being neglected and unappreciated. I hope the Sports ministry look into this and resolve it once and for all.

They should be paid their long overdue allowances in order for them to give their best for the nation. It will not be good that the best female basketball team in Africa boycotts FIBA World Cup qualifier. We have dominated Africa for too long and now is the right time to replicate same at the global stage, hence the sports ministry and NBBF should come to the aid of these ladies.
