Was Henry Right To Say That He Was Not Sure If Arteta Is Leading Arsenal To The Right Direction?

Former Arsenal player and legend, Thierry Henry a few days ago expressed his concern about the misadventures of the club that brought him into the limelight of the footballing world. Henry revealed his lack of confidence in coach Mikel Arteta in leading the Gunners in the right direction despite being at the helm of affairs for two seasons. Arteta's case was not helped with the way Arsenal struggled last night to a 2-2 draw with Crystal Palace which was also coached by former Gunners midfielder, Patrick Vieira.

After starting the match brightly, Arsenal were reduced to second-best at their Emirates Stadium as Palace players took over the rhythm of the game from them. The Gunners struggled most of the time to dictate the pace against their more springy opponents of the game all to no avail.

Despite spending more than £140 million during the last transfer window, Arsenal are still unconvincing as they wallow at 12th position after 8 matches so far this season. Fans have on several occasions questioned Arteta's coaching ability.

Despite the reportedly rumour of Henry and Vieira being behind the consortium that is ready to launch a take-over bid of ownership of Arsenal whenever Stan Kroenke is ready to sell the club, the Gunners have never lived up to the expectations of their staunched fans.

One of the major bane of Arsenal, is their inconsistency. One would have expected after maintaining a runoff of 4 unbeaten matches, Arsenal would have taken lesser opponents like Albion and Palace to the cleaners. Unfortunately, those expected victories never came to pass.

Henry might not be far from the truth in his assessment of this current Arsenal team under Arteta in the sense that they have been playing without composure and flair which are the major traditional attributes of the Gunners during their glory years of "The Invincibles of 2003-2004 season".
