Lionel Messi breaks one good and one bad record in La liga after win against Alavez

Barcelona had a not so good season when they lost the LA liga title to their rivals Real Madrid. The Catalans seemer favourite before the pandemic break but Real Madrid came back strong to overtake them and claim the trophy.

Real Madrid won the league with one game left, but If it might be a consolation for Messi's team, they have something to cheer about on the final day of the coronavirus-delayed LA liga campaign.

The last season's champions responded to the midweek humiliation loss to Osasuna by pounding on Slaves on Sunday with five goals to nil, with a lively Messi scoring two goals and making an assist.

The game made Messi's tally for the season to be 25 league goals, which four clear of Real Madrid striker, Karim Benzema and gets to win the Pichichi top scorer award for a record seventh time. It's also the fourth consecutive season that the Barca captain finished as Spain's most prolific striker.

However another record that seems like a blow to Lionel Messi is that the is the first time in 12 years that the talented footballer would manage fewer than 30 goals in the league.

But the 33 years old player and the 6 times world footballer of the year now puts his focus on the Champions league second leg tie against Napoli, in which they drew 1-1 at 1st leg.
