Chelsea will need to put in a convincing display in order to continue on a positive note. The Blues will travel to Wembley for their FA Cup Semifinals match with Manchester United on Sunday. They laboured to beat Norwich City 1-0 in their last match on Tuesday, July 14
Both teams are currently aiming at winning a domestic trophy before the season comes to an end. Winning the FA Cup will suffice and make the current campaign a successful a successful one for both United and Chelsea.
Chelsea has a poor record against Manchester United this season, as they lost to Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's men three consecutive times this season. I remember that Manchester United knocked Chelsea out of the EFL Cup, and went further to beat them home and away in the English premier league.
Chelsea can turn things around on the pitch to favour them if they execute a nice game plan.
Below is the possible starting XI for Chelsea:
Kepa Arizabalaga (Goalkeeper)
Kepa Arizabalaga had a busy game on Tuesday when Chelsea laboured really hard to get three points against already relegated Norwich City at Stamford Bridge. He kept clean sheet in that match. He will walk back to the starting line-up on Sunday against United.
Emerson Palmieri, Rudiger, Christensen and James will likely be at the back line. Marcos Alonso and Cesar Azpilicueta could be rested because they are not as fast as Emerson and James when they're with the ball. Lampard will need faster players at right and left back in order to contain Rashford and Greenwood.
Ngolo Kante and Matteo Kovaçic recently recovered from their injury problems. As a result, Lampard may not want to risk including them in the starting line-up because they may not be very fit to play full 90 minutes. This implies that Kante and Kovaçic could be unleashed later in the game, paving way for Barkley and Loftus-Cheek to start the match.
Jorginho could come back to the starting line-up on Sunday. He will likely play defensive midfield in order to provide the needed support to the back quartet. His vision and passing accuracy could be what Chelsea needs to upset Solskjaer's Manchester United.
Christian Pulisic, Olivier Giroud and Willian will start up front. Pulisic is currently in a fine goal-scoring spree. I believe he and Willian will cause problems for Manchester United FC at Wembley Stadium on Sunday evening. I sense a very entertaining football on Sunday.
In my opinion, any of the teams can win the match, but I believe Manchester United has more chances of winning because of previous records against Chelsea. Let us see what happens when the full-time whistle is blown.
