Last night at the Champions League quarter-final between Manchester City and Dortmund, quite a lot happened apart from the narrow victory from the Blues all thanks to Foden's late stunning goal. Despite Reus's effort to equalize the game after an assist from Erling Haaland, City managed to steal the show ending a 2-1 victory over Dortmund.
Speaking of Haaland, one of his biggest fans who turned out to be one of the Assistant Referees in the match, took the advantage to ask for an autograph after the game. This incident has sparked even more reactions than the outcome of the game itself. However, several people are curious to know more about the assistant referee, well this article is meant to take away the curiosity for you as we find out more information on the assistant referee.
Assistant referee Octavian Sovre is a Romanian local who was born on Jul 19, 1973. The 47-years-old became an international assistant referee in the year 2005. According to Goalzz, the Romanian has refereed a total of 7 UEFA Champions League competitions including last night between Man City and Dortmund.
An interesting part about this Assistant referee is that he was formerly suspended after being accused of racist abuse which caused a lot of chaos during the UEFA Champions League clash between PSG and Basaksehir but was later cleared off. Last night, he tried to steal the show again as he asked the sensational Dortmund scoring machine for an Autograph at the tunnel after the game.
