Chelsea players are deeply involved in the ongoing Uefa Nations League tournament, which the finals will be played on Sunday at San Siro Stadium in Spain. Chelsea players that were featured in the semi-finals of the competition performed exceptionally well in their different countries.
The final of the Uefa Nations League will be between Spain and France. The both teams that qualified for the finals of the competition had to put extra effort for them to be able to win their opponents. France surprisingly came from behind to beat Belgium and qualify for the finals.
Belgium scored two first half goals but could not defend during the second half of the game. France was able to Equalise the two goals with a winning goal from Theo Hernandez within 30 minutes of play. It was a dramatic comeback for the French national team, but the VAR favored them more than Belgium by awarding a penalty to them and disallowing Romelu Lukaku goal at 87 minutes.
Spain defeated Italy by 2:1 on Wednesday, it was not an easy for both teams, but the referee decided to send Leonardo Bonucci off after a serious foul challenge against Sergio Busquets helped Spain to seal their victory at first half.
Chelsea players played a great role in assisting their teams to win a match, but some were unfortunate to lose their semi-final match. These players who performed well Includes:
1. Cesar Azpilicueta
The blues captain was among the squad that defeated Italy at the semi-final stage of the competition. He played as a right back throughout the whole match.
2. Romelu Lukaku
The Belgium international striker was unfortunate he lost his match against France. He was on the Scoresheet for his country, but the VAR denied him his second goal which would have given Belgium a lead against France when they were playing a draw.
3. Marcos Alonso
The left back had an excellent performance against Italy on Wednesday. He almost scored a goal when he had an opportunity, but he could not convert the chance.
4. Michy Batshuayi
The Chelsea striker who is on loan came in as a substitute against France. He could not perform wonders for his country because the game was too tough.
The midfielder was substituted off during the match, but he created impact within the minutes he played against Spain.
Cesar Azpilicueta and Marcos Alonso will be hoping to win another Trophy on Sunday at the finals of the Uefa Nations League while Romelu Lukaku, Michy Batshuayi and Jorginho will struggle for the third place against Italy.
