Super Eagles striker released by his club few months after signing two and half year contract

Super Eagles striker Sunday Adetunji has part company with his club Plateau United, his manager Adepoju Tobi Samuel confirmed on Monday.

The former Enyimba international of Aba striker joined the Nigeria professional football league side back in August after returning from home from his adventures in Czech Republic.

Adetunji, 23, signs a two-year and half deal with the former Nigerian champions back in August 2020, but he reached agreement to end the contract after just five months.

Meanwhile reasons for the termination is unknown, but the player has struggled to hold down a regular place in the team, making just three appearances in all competitions.

Adetunji is now free agent and can sign for any team of his choice in the future.

The player started his career with Shooting Stars of Ibadan, he later joined Abia Warriors from where he switched to Enyimba.

The former Enyimba man was among the five Nigeria Professional Football League players on the 18-man list of Gernot Rohr for the warm-up clash with the Lone Stars back in 2018.

Adetunji missed out of the 2018 Wafu Cup and 2018 African Nations Championship due to injury, but managed to inspired Enyimba to the quarter-final of the Caf Confederation Cup.
