United has also struggled to win midfield duels in recent games. This season, the tried-and-true Fred-McTominay combination has been overlooked far too frequently. With Aaron Wan-Bissaka out due to suspension, Diogo Dalot hasn't looked like his old self at right-back.

Nemanja Matic, who is 33 years old and only healthy enough to play one game each week, is another defensive midfield option. Donny van de Beek's situation is also becoming more difficult, with a January exit appearing to be a distinct possibility. Manchester United also require major reinforcements in these areas due to the lack of a viable successor for Wan Bissaka.

On that topic, here are three players Manchester United should be targeting in the January transfer window.

Declan Rice

Following the big signings of Jadon Sancho, Raphael Varane, and Cristiano Ronaldo, Manchester United's primary priority is Declan Rice.

Rice, with his imposing physicality, has been recognized as a player capable of dominating the United midfield. Furthermore, for West Ham United, he has had a fantastic start to the season. If the Red Devils opt to sign Rice, they may be assured that they will receive high-quality services.

The summer of 2022 will undoubtedly see an effort to sign Declan Rice. Due to the fact that a number of teams are vying for his signing, United must make their intentions known as soon as possible. The January transfer window is a great opportunity for him to distance himself from other elite clubs.

Youri Tielemans

Manchester United may utilize the services of Youri Tielemans, a youthful and dynamic midfielder. He possesses outstanding playmaking skills as well as the tenacity required to dominate center midfield. He's a player who will undoubtedly aid United in maintaining possession as they attempt to dominate games.

Tielemans is a crucial component of Brendan Rodgers' Leicester City team, and he is highly regarded by Europe's elite teams. After his unwillingness to sign a new deal, clubs such as Manchester City and Barcelona are keeping tabs on him. With Leicester's form not as excellent as it has been in prior seasons, United may be tempted to buy him on a cheap contract in January.

Kieran Trippier

Since the start of last summer's transfer season, Kieran Trippier has been on Manchester United's radar.

For United, Trippier is a seasoned right-back option. With his famed overlapping runs and skill, he could also play a significant role in their attacking play.

Atletico Madrid, on the other hand, is determined on keeping their prized possession and would not accept any player bargains. After his recent spell at Tottenham, the footballer has shown an interest in returning to England.

Manchester United may try to recruit him again in January to give a better alternative than Diogo Dalot.
