Rudiger has been an integral part of Chelsea's success since Thomas Tuchel was appointed head coach. The 28-year-old turned down a £125,000-a-week contract offer from the club to renew his deal at Stamford Bridge, and will now look to join Real Madrid in the summer unless Chelsea match his £300,000-a-week demands.

In my opinion, if Rudiger eventually leaves Chelsea in the summer, here are two defenders the Blues should target.

1. Jules Kounde: Chelsea were interested in Jules Kounde last summer, but the Blues were unwilling to match his £77million release clause. Kounde has kept four clean sheets in six La Liga games this season, and he will be a decent replacement for Rudiger.

2. Victor Lindelof: Lindelof has seen his game time reduced at Manchester United since the arrival of Raphel Varane. The 27-year-old is an excellent ball player who can excel in Thomas Tuchel's 3-5-2 formation. Lindelof could look to leave Old Trafford in the summer in search of regular game time and will excell under Thomas Tuchel tutelage
