Arsenal youngster Bukayo Saka has admitted his dad was somehow disappointed in him when he chose to play for England over Nigeria, according to reports.
Saka reportedly stated in an interview with Arsenal legend, Ian Wright, that most of his family members also wanted him to represent the Super Eagles, but the final decision was made by him.
Saka's dad and mum are Nigerians, with both of them migrating to London for work before the Arsenal youngster was born.
The 19-year-old was also proud of his Nigerian heritage despite representing U16, U17, U18, U19, and U21 level.
One of the people that tried to convince Saka to play for his fatherland when he was still an England youth international was his dad.
The Super Eagles chief scout Tunde Adelakun also reached out to the London-born player, but later had to bow to the youngster's wishes.
Reactions to Saka's statement
So far, Saka has played four games for the England senior team, with his first competitive game coming in the 2-0 loss against Belgium in November 2020.
The 19-year-old is also having an amazing campaign for the Gunners, having scored five goals and provided four assists in 25 appearances this season.
