Manchester United's poor form continued as they suffered a disappointing 1-0 loss to West Ham this evening. The Red Devil's entered the game looking to put Brighton's loss behind their minds with a victory against a relegation threatened West Ham side. However, their poor performance in today cost them to drop crucial points.
Said Benrahma's early goal was the difference in today's game, and it means the Red Devils are now nervously looking over their shoulders at 5th placed Liverpool, who are in top form at the moment. Liverpool are currently just two points behind Manchester United, and while United have one game in hand, they are beginning to feel the heat from the suddenly in-form Reds.
Looking at their upcoming schedule, it is clear that Manchester United will struggle to finish in the top four. Their last league games will be against Wolves, Bournemouth, Chelsea and Fulham, all of which I believe will be difficult games for the Ref Devils. Mathematically, If Wolves and Bournemouth fail to win their remaining games, they could get relegated. They obviously understand this and will do everything in their power to pick up as many points as possible in their remaining games.
Chelsea, on the other hand, stunned the football world with an incredible performance against Bournemouth on Saturday, and based on how they performed, they will undoubtedly cause problems for United. United will wrap their EPL season with a tough game against Fulham which I believe will be a tough test. Looking at their recent forms, the Red Devils could lose crucial points in these games and fail to make top 4.
The Red Devils have also been without some of their top players for quite some time due to injuries and this has affected their results in games. Raphael Varane and Lisandro Martinez are still unavailable, and you will agree that this is one of the reasons for United's recent poor form.
