During A Match, A Fan Came To My Goal Post Looking For My Rosary But Couldn't See It - Vanzekin

Ambrose Vanzekin, a one-time Nigerian goalkeeper at the U-17, U-20, and U-23 levels, has narrated how a fan came to his goalpost during a football match looking for his rosary but couldn't see it despite the rosary being right in front of him.

During an exclusive interview with the Punch Newspaper, Vanzekin, who is currently the goalkeeper trainer at Bendel Insurance, disclosed how he grew up on the streets of Kaduna and how his prowess in football made him get a scholarship at Great International School, Kaduna, one of the best schools in the state at the time. He also revealed how he grew up with his single mother after his father's demise, making him more determined to excel at all costs.

Speaking about why he always uses a rosary during matches, Vanzekin said, "I am a Catholic, so I believe so much in the rosary. I always put it on my goal posts. Each time opponents tried to score against us and they couldn’t, I always went back to where I put it and kissed it. I remember during one of our matches, one of the fans entered the pitch, and I had to run to the referee. So, the guy was at my goal post, looking for my rosary, but he couldn’t find it, even right in front of him. It was like a miracle."

He further stated that Lionel Messi was the most superb attacker he has encountered throughout his playing days, noting that Angel Di Maria is also worthy of mention.
