The Top Ten Best Goalkeepers In The World

It's difficult to compile a list of the top 10 players in any position.

But it's a lot of fun and sparks discussion, and isn't that what football is all about?

Below are my top ten best goalkeepers in the world.

1. ALISSON BECKER:

When Liverpool paid over £70 million for Alisson in 2018, rival fans attacked the club on social media, questioning the enormity of the investment.

The Brazilian has proven to be a game-changer for Liverpool, brilliantly combining the qualities of both a sweeper-keeper and a traditional stopper.

He's also helped Liverpool win the Premier League, European Cup, and World Championship in previous seasons. Definitely worth the money.

2. JAN OBLAK:

When you're watching Jan Oblak, the five-time Zamora Trophy winner, you might believe he has the power to attract the ball to his hands.

It's as if his gloves had a gravitational pull of their own.

He's the best shot shopper in the world, and Atletico Madrid's number one is currently my second choice.

3. MANUEL NEUER:

Manuel Neuer was a key figure in the modernization of the goalkeeping position, and he is still regarded as one of the top sweeper-keepers in the game today.

This man is as good as he's ever been, despite the fact that he only has a few years left.

4. THIBAUT COURTOIS:

Thibaut Courtois has been in outstanding form recently after a difficult start at Real Madrid.

Los Blancos may have lost some of their attacking flair since Cristiano Ronaldo's departure, but there have been few complaints at the back, thanks in part to Courtois' long limbs and excellent goalkeeping abilities.

5. ANDRE TER STEGEN:

Sharp reflexes, strong wrists, Andrea Pirlo-like distribution, and a clever name.

These are just a handful of the characteristics that distinguish Marc-Andre ter Stegen as one of the top goalkeepers on the planet.

6. GIANLUIGI DONNARUMMA:

Gigio's future appears to be carved out after leaving boyhood club Milan for Paris Saint-Germain in the summer. While he may start the season on the bench, he will eventually take over as the club's starting goalkeeper from Keylor Navas.

7. SAMIR HANDANOVIC:

Samir Handanovic, the Inter icon, shows no signs of slowing down.

Last season, the Nerazzurri won Serie A, which was his first major honor in his career. Even though the team in front of him has weakened, there may be a few more to come.

8. DAVID DE GEA:

There has been some speculation over David de Gea's future at Manchester United in recent seasons, due to the errors that have crept into his game.

Questions about whether he's past his prime are valid, but he's off to a great start in the new season, maybe putting his confidence troubles behind him.

9. HUGO LLORIS:

He is still the first choice goalkeeper for Spurs and France, as well as one of the top goalkeepers in the world. Hugo Lloris, on the other hand, may no longer be in that elite tier.

Lloris, on the other hand, is still Spurs' number one goalkeeper and will be for the rest of the season.

10. KASPER SCHMEICHEL:

Kasper Schmeichel's performances for Leicester have been unaffected by taking over as captain in the absence of Wes Morgan.

During his time at the King Power Stadium, the Danish international has seen it all and remains a critical piece in Brendan Rodgers' footballing revolution, as well as one of the Premier League's most dependable goalkeepers.
