Wrestlers Who Cashed In Their MITB Briefcase But Failed To Win The Heavyweight Championship

Ever since its creation, the MITB briefcase has been an easy way for wrestlers to win either of the heavyweight championships as the briefcase contains a contract where the MITB winner can cash in any place, any time provided a referee is there.

Many wrestlers who won the Money in the bank went on to cash in successfully and won the championship. The likes of Edge, Randy Orton, Cm punk, Miz, and Sheamus all cash in successfully to become heavyweight champions.

Despite the MITB giving a great chance of the holder winning a championship, some wrestlers failed to become heavyweight champions after cashing in their MITB briefcase. So, in this article, we are going to look at four WWE wrestlers who fail to secure the championship after cashing in;

John Cena

The legendary wrestler won the 2012 Money in the bank match and announced he would cash in against WWE champion, Cm Punk in a match at the Raw 1000 episode. Unfortunately for John Cena, his match ended in a disqualification after Big show attack him. This made Cena become the first wrestler to win a MITB match but fail to secure the championship.

Damien Sandow

He won the 2013 MITB and cashed in against World Heavyweight champion, John Cena. However, John Cena hit Sandow with the AA for the 1-2-3 on an October episode of Monday Night Raw.

Baron Corbin

Corbin shocked the WWE Universe when he won the 2017 Money in the bank ladder match. However, his joy was shortlived when he cash in the contract on an episode of Smackdown live only to be distracted by John Cena after initially interfering in a match between Cena and Jindal Mahal.

Jindal Mahal utilize the distraction and pinned Baron Corbin for the 1-2-3 count.

Braun Strowman

The monster among men won the 2018 MITB match. He announced he would challenge Universal Champion, Roman Reigns in a Hell in a cell match. However, during the match, Brock Lesnar invade the cell and lay both men to waste, resulting in the match being ruled out as no contest.
