Why Thomas Tuchel's Continuous Success At Chelsea Is Bad For Other Struggling Managers

Thomas Tuchel was named the Chelsea manager on the 26th of January 2021, a couple of weeks after he was relieved of his job at Paris Saint-Germain, and it is safe to describe the almost one year he has spent in English football as a great success.

The German manager led Chelsea to the FA Cup final and Champions League glory in his first four months in England. He also helped secure Champions League qualification for this season by helping the club to finish fourth in the Premier League table after former manager, Frank Lampard, left them languishing in the ninth position.

This season, Tuchel has led Chelsea to the top of the Premier League table after eight games, and they might end up winning the league.

While Chelsea fans are happy with Thomas Tuchel and probably hoping that he stays at their club for a very long time, his success in the Premier League is bad for other struggling managers.

Chelsea was in a similar situation to the likes of Arsenal and Manchester United before Tuchel joined the club as their manager. Just like Arsenal and Manchester United, they had an expensively assembled squad that was struggling to reach its full potential, but Tuchel's appointment as manager changed everything.

The board and whoever is responsible for making decisions at other struggling big clubs would have been closely watching the work of Thomas Tuchel at Chelsea. They will have seen the impact of a new manager on a struggling squad, and they will probably be wondering whether a change of manager could also help them achieve similar results.

The more Tuchel continues to achieve great success with what was once a struggling Chelsea's squad, the more other struggling clubs will see reasons to change their coaching staff. His success at Chelsea has no doubt increased the pressure on his counterparts at other clubs.
