Mourinho Praises His New Favourite Midfielder

Dele Alli's "incredible performance and commitment" was praised by Tottenham boss Jose Mourinho as Spurs came from behind against Brighton's "monsters" to win 2-1 at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

Spurs was second best in North London for much of the first half, with Adam Webster leading the Seagulls at the end of the first half.

But after the break, Tottenham was much better, and Harry Kane drew them to level twenty minutes before Dele Alli's superb winner.

So Mourinho made a big difference to Tottenham by the tactical changes he made for the second half.

He said to Amazon: "With the second half I'm very pleased. We changed bits, I don't say players were wrong, but we changed bits, which makes a difference.

"Not a catastrophe was the first half, we played a good game. Getting trust after a loss is hard and we began badly, it affects the trust.

"In the second half, all the negative was put aside by the players and their performance was very good.

"They're a very good football team (Brighton). They've got a few very big giants. They're strong in the rain. They want to play good soccer. It's making it very hard.

"We have monsters in the air and have an effect on our team's self-esteem."

Mourinho was particularly impressed by Dele Alli, whose revival at Tottenham was again apparent since the Portuguese took charge.

"Another goal and another amazing performance and commitment," Mourinho said. Dele's work rate was absolutely amazing. The small details are more important than what people are looking at. His spirit of combat and attitude was so sweet.
