Transfer News: Arsenal Very Close To Securing Blockbuster Deal For Zubimendi, Gunners Keen Torres

Arsenal ‘very close’ to securing blockbuster deal for Martin Zubimendi

According to Spanish outlet AS, Real Sociedad's midfield star Martin Zubimendi is close to accepting an offer to sign for Arsenal as their first signing this summer.

The Spaniard maestro has caught the eye of several top European clubs, including the likes of Barcelona and Chelsea, thanks to his exceptional performance in La Liga. Now, it seems Arsenal have stolen the march on their competitors, and won the race for his signature.

Arsenal keen on Ferran Torres

According to Fichajes, Arsenal and Aston Villa are keeping tabs on 23-year-old Spanish Ferran Torres’ situation at Barcelona ahead of the summer. Barcelona are under increased financial difficulties, and the 23-year-old has not convinced them enough to stay in Xavi Hernandez's squad for next season.

Wolves offer €30m plus Ruben Neves for Ansu Fati

In a piece of sensational news story, Relevo jounalist Toni Juanmarti is reporting that superagent Jorge Mendes has offered Barcelona a chance to swap Ansu Fati for Wolves midfielder Ruben Neves this summer.

Wolves have proposed a player-plus-cash deal including €30m cash alongside playmaker Neves, and it is said that the Camp Nou hierarchy are considering the proposal, with the deal helping them manage their ongoing financial difficulties.

Fati, 20, has fallen down the pecking order under Xavi Hernandez, and could be moved on this summer, while 26-year-old Neves is set to enter the final year of his contract next season.

The Portuguese midfielder has been on the Barcelona radar for months, but the Catalan giants think that players like Martin Zubimendi and Sofyan Amrabat are more suited for the pivot position, albeit both are less feasible alternatives.

Newcastle scout Szoboszlai and Haidara

Newcastle have had scouts watching RB Leipzig players Dominik Szoboszlai and Amadou Haidara, according to Sky Germany.

It is understood that the pair have been watched by Eddie Howe’s side several times this season, with scouts observing the midfielders at both home and away games - most recently in the 2-0 defeat at Bayer Leverkusen on April 23.

Newcastle’s interest in Hungarian international Szoboszlai is understood to be greater but the RB Leipzig head coach Marco Rose is planning for next season with the 22-year-old in his squad.

There has been no contact between the clubs.

Szoboszlai, who joined the Bundesliga side from Red Bull Salzburg in 2021, has scored seven goals this season.
