I think any goalkeeper would have made a difference - Carragher on Mendy's impact

'I think any goalkeeper would have made a difference': Carragher on Mendy's impact

Jamie Carragher has said he questioned Edouard Mendy's quality when Chelsea signed the goalkeeper.

Carragher also highlighted Mendy's recent mistakes and said it would be interesting to see his reaction.

Mendy reacted with zero goals conceded against West Ham.

“I must be honest, when they brought him in from Rennes, at 28-years of age, it’s not late in his career as a goalkeeper but you think, could he have been spotted earlier? How good is he really?” Carragher said on Sky Sports.

“He came in and made a massive difference but I think any keeper would have made a massive difference. What’s happened the last few weeks, it will be interesting to see how he reacts himself.

“I think he’s made a good start, a few mistakes of late and all eyes will be on him now.”

After a couple of games where he wasn't at his best, Mendy managed to keep a clean sheet against West Ham in Chelsea's 3-0 victory.

The goalkeeper has kept 6 clean sheets in 10 league games since his arrival from Rennes.
