Spanish international and Barcelona player, Sergio Roberto has tested positive for Covid-19 according to multiple sources. He is the first Barcelona player to test positive for the virus (apart from Pjanic who tested positive before leaving Juventus for Barcelona) . This news comes after he injured himself in a La LIga match against Atletico Madrid where Barcelona lost by a goal which was caused by an error of Ter Stergen.

Sergio Roberto was a frequent starter under Valverde, Setien and has played frequently under Koeman even though there has always been a natural right back available. He was always a preferred starter compared to Semedo, who left for Wolves in the Premier league this summer, and now he has also had an edge compared to the new signing from America, Dest who signed from Ajax.

Dest has had more opportunities since the injury to Roberto but he has also had some muscle issues. It is left to be seen if Dest can lay claim to the starting spot before Roberto recovers.
