Winning the 2021 edition of the Copa America, it is now a matter of "dreams come true" for Leonel Messi, Angel Di Maria and Kun Aguero, as the trio has been teammates from their nation's junior level.
Snatching the title away from the Brazilian national team after Di Maria's first-half goal, the three players have been part of the ups and downs that befell the Argentine national team for the past years, but before their senior career success, they have been successful in their young days with the Argentine national team.
Now the only players remaining in the 2007 U-20 World Cup-winning team and the 2008 Olympics games football tournament, Messi, Di Maria and Aguero were all part of the players that helped Argentina achieved such a feat in international football.
With one Olympic gold medalist, one U-20 FIFA World Cup title and the recent Copa America title, Angel Di Maria and Kun Aguero are now level with Leonel Messi in terms of the number of international trophies won as the trio has been teammates at any level for the Argentine national team.
More than their achievements for the Argentine national team, their patience and determination will always apeak for them as the trio were also part of the unfortunate Argentine team that saw the disappointment of the 2014 world cup hosted in Brazil and the consecutive failures encountered in winning the Copa America trophy in the past years.
Running the race to the end, they have finally ended the 28-year-old record of being trophyless as the South American last experienced international glory in 1993, but the recent win has changed the narrative of the Argentine national team in terms of winning an international trophy and at the same time added to the three players trophy cabinets.
