LIV vs MCI: 3 Former Liverpool Players Who Scored For Man City Against Liverpool

The highly anticipated fixture between Premier League heavyweights Liverpool and Manchester City at the Anfield Stadium is upon us. The 2019-20 and 2020-21 champions will face off in the last game of game week seven and decide who stays top till October 16.

The game will be exciting and filled with goals as both clubs are high-scoring sides with prolific goalscorers in the teams. Let's look at these three players who played for both clubs and scored against their former club Liverpool while at City.

1. Robbie Fowler

Fowler is a Liverpool legend who scored 183 goals in 369 games in two spells. The first spell was at the beginning of his career between 1993 - 2001 and another between 2006 - 2007 after rejoining from Man City.

Fowler joined Man City in 2003 from Leeds United and scored 27 goals in 92 appearances. One of the goals was against Liverpool in a 2-2 home league draw. In the same game, former Liverpool player Nicolas Anelka scored Man City's second goal.

2. Nicolas Anelka

Anelka joined Liverpool on loan from PSG in January 2002. He scored five goals in 22 appearances for The Reds within six months.

After his loan spell, he returned to England to join Manchester City permanently in July 2002 for a £13 million fee. The French striker spent three seasons at Etihad Stadium before joining Fenerbache. He scored 46 goals in 103 games at City, with three scored against former club Liverpool.

3. Raheem Sterling

Sterling started his professional football career at Liverpool in 2012. He scored 23 goals in 129 appearances for Liverpool before joining Manchester City controversially for £44 million.

The 26-year-old English winger has scored 115 goals in 301 appearances for City, with three of those goals scored against his former club Liverpool. After six seasons in Manchester, rumors are circulating that he could leave City in the coming transfer window. But he would be hoping to add one more to his tally in their fixture this weekend.
