Kai Havertz is desperate to seal a move to Stamford Bridge even, in the event of Chelsea FC missing out on Champions League football next season. The German starlet has emerged as the primary transfer target for Frank Lampard this summer. However, a deal has not been able to be agreed upon by the Blues with Havertz’s club Bayer Leverkusen.
Chelsea FC looks certain to seal a top-four finish in this season’s Premier League. However, a recent downward spiral of form could mean that the Blues miss out on Champions League football next season. In such an event, it would become extremely difficult for Frank Lampard to tempt highly-rated players in moving to Stamford Bridge.
Havertz’s transfer has been prioritized ,by the Chelsea FC boss in recent weeks. The German international is believed ,to be identified by Lampard as the creative influence needed by the Blues next season. The Bayer Leverkusen star has been a great performer for his side in recent, seasons while playing in the Bundesliga as well as in the Champions League.
However, Bayer Leverkusen has missed out on a top-four finish this season in the Bundesliga. This means that the German side would not feature in the Champions League next season, which gives Havertz further incentive to demand a move elsewhere.
Leverkusen has been sticking to their ,£90 million price-tag for Havertz which is causing Chelsea FC to fret over the transfer agreement. Despite the 21-year old German’s talent, £90 million is an enormous amount considering the current state of the transfer market.
If the Blues do manage to offload certain fringe players in their squad, Lampard would surely shed his reluctance of paying big bucks to sign Havertz. Tiémoué Bakayoko and Emerson Palmieri are two such Chelsea FC players heavily linked with a move ,away from Stamford Bridge this summer.
The addition of Havertz could be a, massive boost to the current state of the Chelsea FC first-team squad. With the presence of N’Golo Kante and Mateo Kovacic as the two holding midfielders, the German international would serve as the Blues’ playmaker in the midfield trio.
