Why Controversial VAR Decision Against Chelsea In EPL May Affect Their Players Performance

Chelsea have suffered a lot in the hands of video assistant referees and other match Officials during matches since the beginning of the season. They have disallowed so many goals and red carded a player for committing an offense which was not intentional.

The blues have been performing well under Thomas Tuchel, the manager has shown he deserved the Uefa Champions League award given to him during the draws for this competition. He received the Uefa men's coach of the year award with his players, who also won different awards.

They also started this season with the same energy both in Uefa champions League and all competitions in England. The manager has recorded seven victories in 10 matches played in all competitions.

In their last premier league match against Southampton at Stamford bridge, the video assistant referee took some decisions that affected the player's performances during the match. Two of the goals scored by Chelsea was disallowed and the team had to struggle to score two late goals to give them the victory against the saints.

The first goal disallowed was scored by Romelu Lukaku. After VAR check, Romelu Lukaku was seen in an offside position though it was marginal, the goal was ruled off. Timo Werner goal was also disallowed for a foul challenge against a Southampton player during the build up.

The goal was cancelled after Cesar Azpilicueta was seen where he pushed a player down to collect the ball from him. The match between Southampton Vs Manchester United ended in a 1:1 draw because of a controversial goal scored by the saints.

Bruno Fernandes was pushed down during the build up, but the goal was allowed to stand as it not cancelled by VAR after several checks. But against Chelsea, it was cancelled by the technology.

This has shown their inconsistency in making a right decision. This controversial decision will affect the Chelsea players in these ways.

1. Top Scorer Award

The both scorers need a lot of goals to be among the strikers who will Contend for the award at the end of the season. After struggling to score a goal, and it gets disallowed for a nonsense reason. It is going to affect the player performance in his next match because the memory will still be fresh in his mind.

2. Individual Performance

Scoring a goal is the major objective of a striker, he's expected to score in any match he plays. His Performance will reduce if he keeps being frustrated by the technology.
