The Uefa Champions League was in full action this midweek as 18 matches were played on Tuesday and Wednesday. The mid-week matches were full of dramas and unexpected incidents that made the competition controversial and interesting.
Let's take a look at the three underdogs currently at top of their Champions League group table after matchday 2.
FC Sheriff is the surprise leader of Group D that consists of elite teams like Real Madrid, inter Milan, and Shakhtar Donetsk. The Modolvian club made an impressive start to their Champions League by defeating Shakhtar Donetsk 2-0 at home and Real Madrid 2-1 at the Santiago Bernabeu.
Sherrif has picked six crucial points from their first two matches which puts them in a good position in securing qualification into the Round of 16. Two more wins for Sherrif may seal them book their place in the Champions League Round of 16 for the first time in their history.

Atalanta is a surprise leader in a group that has three times Champions League Winner, Manchester City, and the current Uefa Europa winners. Everybody thought Manchester United will have an easy ride in reg Group F due to the quality of their team but the Premier League started their campaign with a loss against Young Boys before defeating Villarreal on Matchday two.
Villarreal on the other hand is struggling in the group with only one point in two matches. Atalanta fought hard to grab a point against Villarreal in Spain before proceeding to beat Young Boys 1-0 in Italy.
3. RB Salzburg:
RB Leipzig is currently on top of the Group G table with four points in two matches. The Austrian club is making a statement in their first Champions League appearance as they close in on qualifying for the Round of 16.
Salzburg is on top of four times Europa League winners, Sevilla, and the current French Ligue One winner, Lille in Group G.
