Despite the five points that separate Atlético and Real Madrid in the standings after the draw between the two teams this Sunday (1-1), Karim Benzema believes that the Merengue can still hope for the coronation in La Liga.
This Sunday, Real Madrid had no room for error against Atlético. Zinedine Zidane's men were not to lose so as not to let the Madrid rival slip away for the title.
While Luis Suarez opened the scoring early in the game, Karim Benzema equalized in the last minutes (1-1), and thus allows the Merengue to keep hope for the end of the season. “That's a point, we're alive. We will continue to fight,” said Zinedine Zidane after the game, believing that La Liga was not yet folded.
The Atlético indeed keeps 5 points in advance, with a game late, on Real Madrid , 3rd. For his part, Karim Benzema validates the words of his trainer.
"LaLiga is not over, we have it in our heads"
At the end of the match, Karim Benzema posted a very ambitious speech for the end of the season. “ We deserved more than them, but that's a good point for us.
"I'm a little disappointed because two minutes earlier I could have scored, but the goalkeeper made a big save. I am happy with the result.
"This draw means that LaLiga is not over, we have it in our heads,” said the French striker.
