Breaking: Premier League Manager Has Been Sacked

Following the club's takeover by a Saudi-led consortium, Newcastle United have sacked Steve Bruce "By mutual consent, Steve Bruce has left his role as head coach," the club announced in a statement on Wednesday morning. "The club would like to express its appreciation for Steve's efforts and wishes him well in the future."

With the Magpies still looking for their first Premier League win of the season and only one spot off the bottom of the league, Bruce's assistant Graeme Jones will take charge of the squad for Saturday's trip to Crystal Palace.

"Graeme Jones will manage the squad on an interim basis, starting with Saturday's trip to Crystal Palace, and will be backed up by the coaching staff of Steve Agnew, Stephen Clemence, Ben Dawson, and Simon Smith," the statement added.

"The search for a new head coach is underway, and an appointment will be made as soon as possible." At this point, the club will not make any more statements."
