However, the weaknesses of the over five billion naira (N5billion) were exposed before the Shooting Stars Sports Club, 3SC take on Slovenian club, NK Tabor in an international friendly match.
The first weakness of the stadium was exposed when it rains for few minutes before the commencement of the match, almost all the pitch was water logged. There was no provision for water to drain off the pitch. Players had no option than to play in the remodeled stadium with water on the pitch. Luckily, Shooting Stars Sports Club, 3SC led a visiting team by one goal to nil in the first half and won 4 goals to nil at the end.
Apart from the water logged pitch, another weakness is the leaking of roof of the newly remodeled stadium. Spectators were forced to leave their seats when the roof on the seats started leaking and water keeps coming down.
The contractor and representatives of Oyo State government should look into this before the project is fully completed by December 2021.
This will no doubt ensure that the government get value for huge amount of money spent on the edifice.
