One Scenario That Could See Super Eagles Miss The 2022 World Cup In Qatar

The 2022 FIFA World Cup Qualifying campaign has entered its crucial stage as last two group matches will be decided this weekend and next week. This is equally the stage where countries can not afford to make mistakes.

Nigeria is in group C along with Central Africa Republic, Cape Verde and Liberia. Four matches have already been played with the Super Eagles sitting on top of the group. Cape Verde is behind Nigeria with just two points which makes the group still open.

Either Nigeria or Cape Verde will pick the sole ticket of the group and advance to the play-off.

As Nigeria travel to Morocco to keep a date with Liberia, Cape Verde will host Central African Republic. Cape Verde are favorites to win their tie. This is one reason why the Super Eagles will have no option but to secure the three maximum points on Saturday.

Losing the game against Liberia will ruin the chance of the Super Eagles.

If Nigeria fail to defeat the lone stars and Cape Verde wins against C.A.R, the Blue Sharks will go top of the group with 10 points while Nigeria will remain with nine points. If the Super Eagles play a draw against the lone stars, both Nigeria and Cape Verde will be on 10 points.

The last group game between Nigeria and Cape Verde in Lagos will be "a winner takes all". It is clear that the Super Eagles are not invisible at home any more. Cape Verde can decide to shock Nigerians by winning the game and advance. This is one major reason why the players must see the encounter against Liberia as a do or die affair. We cannot not afford to see the Super Eagles Miss The 2022 World Cup.

Gernot must get it right with Liberia in order to avoid further permutations.
