Super Eagles won Central Africa Republic in today's match, they redeemed themselves after they failed to win in their last match. Gernot Rohr side came back stronger and went away with all three points. The players played differently in today's match, Here are the two mistakes Gernot Rohr avoided as the Super Eagles won today.
1. Using The Same Squad: Gernot Rohr made just three changes from the squad that faced Central Africa Republic in their last match. Maduka Okoye replaced Francis Uzoho in goal, Awaziem replaced Ola Aina in the full back position while Ahmed Musa captained the squad, replacing Ejuke. Ahmed Musa brought more creativity in the Super Eagles midfield, he was the missing piece in their last encounter with the hosts.
Ahmed Musa has proven to be a vital player for the Super Eagles, Gernot Rohr will have to grant him more playing time to get the best out of him. The Super Eagles dominated play in today's match and created better chances of scoring compared to their last encounter with the hosts. Leon Balogun scored the opening goal in the first half of the match to give the Super Eagles a narrow lead in the first half. Victor Osimhen extended their lead to 2-0 just minutes before the half time whistle went off.
2. Avoiding Unnecessary Substitutions: The match was already running smoothly for the Super Eagles, there was no need to make early substitutions. Gernot Rohr waited till the game was decided before he made his move from the bench. An unnecessary substitution might alter the flow of the game for the Super Eagles and make them loose focus. The attackers in today's match, Kelechi Iheanacho, Victor Osimhen, Simons and Ahmed Musa worked hand in hand, that was one of the reason why there was no need for unnecessary substitutions in the second half.
